TikTok quietly launches a standalone TikTok Shop app
TikTok released a separate TikTok Shop app in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, on iOS and Android, without an announcement; social media consultant Matt Navarra first spotted it. The app offers personalized recommendations, livestream and short-video shopping, in-app checkout, order tracking and support, plus free shipping and first-order perks. TikTok has not said whether it plans a wider rollout or a US launch.
For your store:If social selling matters to your store, watch whether TikTok Shop goes standalone in your market; a dedicated app could pull more browsing time away from Instagram and Amazon.
Amazon gives Prime members $0 delivery on Uber Eats orders
Prime members can now order Uber Eats restaurant delivery straight from Amazon.com or the Amazon Shopping app, signing in with their existing account and payment method, with no new app needed. Orders of $25 or more ship with a $0 delivery fee, and new users get $20 off each of their first two orders during a 14-day launch window. Amazon says Prime members already save over $650 a year on delivery and fuel.
For your store:Fast, free delivery keeps getting cheaper for shoppers to expect; benchmark your own shipping thresholds against what Amazon is training customers to want this holiday season.
Visa finds AI shopping agents fail 43% of test runs
Visa's Agentic Commerce Benchmark put 22 AI models from 12 labs through shopping scenarios for a TV, laptop or personal care appliance; 57.2% of runs passed and 42.8% failed. The best models passed 82.2% of runs, the worst just 28.9%, and pricier models outperformed cheaper ones. More than half of failed runs still ended in a purchase that missed the shopper's actual requirements. Visa's Rubail Birwadker said "trust is key" to making agentic commerce work.
For your store:If shoppers let AI agents buy on your site, make your product data specific enough that an agent cannot misread what a customer actually needs.
Zipline raises $1.5 billion as Walmart expands its drone delivery bet
Delivery drone company Zipline raised $1.5 billion at a $21.5 billion valuation, led by Paradigm, WCM Investment Management and Layer Global, with Uber, Fidelity and J.P. Morgan among other backers. Walmart signed a new multi-year deal to add 300 Zipline drone sites nationwide, on top of the 21 the two have run since 2021. Zipline's share of its own delivery revenue jumped from 10.8% in March to 34.9% in October.
For your store:Drone delivery is moving from pilot to scale at a major retailer; if you ship locally, watch whether it becomes a realistic same-day option in your area.
Activist investor ousts Ethan Allen's CEO as board chair
Ethan Allen shareholders replaced three directors with nominees backed by activist investor Doug Bergeron, who owns about 5% of the stock; preliminary results show CEO Farooq Kathwari was not reelected to the board. Bergeron campaigned since August against Kathwari's leadership and pushed to install a former Neiman Marcus executive as interim CEO, though she was not elected. Analysts expect Kathwari's contract to end early. Bergeron said the vote "marks a new chapter" for the retailer.
For your store:Activist investors are targeting retail boards again; expect leadership and strategy to shift fast at any supplier or rival caught in a shakeup.
Zalando opens its app to outside retailers, starting with Westwing
Zalando is adding products it does not sell itself through a new Zalando Extended program, starting with home goods retailer Westwing; shoppers are redirected to the retailer's site for now, but an AI shopping agent is set to complete purchases inside Zalando's app from 2027. Zalando plans to earn commissions and ad revenue from participating retailers. Third-party sellers already made up 33.6% of its B2C volume this quarter, up from 30.7% a year earlier.
For your store:A marketplace giant adding outside retailers for free discovery is worth watching; a similar program elsewhere could become a low-effort extra sales channel for your store.
Bark's direct-to-consumer sales keep sliding even as its retail business grows
Bark's fiscal Q2 net revenue fell 18.1% to $87.6 million as its direct-to-consumer, mostly subscription, business dropped 24.7% to $61.8 million on fewer orders. Its commerce business, selling through retail partners, returned to growth, up 3.6% to $25.7 million, and subscriber retention improved to 94%. The company also reached a preliminary deal to sell its Bark Air pet airline assets and license the brand from January 2027. CEO Matt Meeker said "commerce returned to growth" even as DTC lagged.
For your store:If subscriptions shrink, a wholesale or retail-partner channel can offset it faster than chasing lapsed subscribers.
Wishlist app GoWish passes 20 million users worldwide
Danish wishlist and social shopping app GoWish surpassed 20 million registered users globally, with the US its biggest market at over 10 million and the UK approaching 1.5 million. Users added 21.7 million wishes through its product recommendations in October alone, and the app was downloaded 2.8 million times that month, ranking among the top free lifestyle apps in several countries. Co-founder Casper Ravn-Sorensen said the company always believed its product had "potential beyond Denmark."

Amazon launches a GBP seller wallet for UK sellers
Amazon rolled out Seller Wallet GBP, letting eligible sellers hold and manage pounds sterling proceeds from Amazon.co.uk directly in Seller Central, pay UK suppliers, and send GBP to UK bank accounts at no cost on one-time or recurring schedules. Overseas sellers can keep proceeds in GBP or convert into more than 20 currencies, with transfer fees that fall as sales grow. Enrollment is free. Amazon's Manasi Kudtarkar said it gives sellers "more choice and control" over their UK proceeds.
For your store:If you sell on Amazon UK, enabling the GBP wallet could cut currency conversion costs and speed up paying local suppliers.
Walmart's Sparky AI assistant adds visual search and cart building for the holidays
Walmart expanded its Sparky AI assistant with cart generation from shopping lists, including handwritten ones, plus visual search where shoppers upload a photo for product suggestions and fixes like removing a stain. Sparky usage is up 70% since its June 2025 debut, and CEO John Furner said shoppers who use it spend 40% more per order. Visual search drove a 57% jump in conversion over text search. The updates are live in the US, expanding next to Mexico and Canada.
For your store:AI-assisted visual search already lifts conversion at scale; a simple image-based search feature could do the same for your store.
